Communion

The celebration of the First Communion is an exciting event in the life of a parish. The Sacred Heart community welcomes your child as he/she joins us in receiving our Lord Jesus Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist.

All children receiving their First Reconciliation and First Communion must enroll in the Cathedral Kids program, unless they are enrolled in Sacred Heart Cathedral School. Children who cannot attend on Wednesday nights will need to complete an online sacramental preparation program at home. To sign your child up for First Communion, register below, email Dave Wells, SHC Faith Formation Director, or call 865.588.0249.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. . . Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you” (Jn 6:51, 53).

NOTE: It is the traditional practice of the Catholic Church that only baptized and practicing Catholics are invited to receive Holy Communion as a sign of our unity as Church. Those wishing to receive a blessing may come forward at communion time to receive a blessing from the priest. Simply cross your arms over your heart as a sign you would like to receive a blessing.
