As work on the outside of the Cathedral progresses, the inside is just as busy. This past week, columns, made of Italian and French marble were delivered by Rugo Stone, LLC. The columns are made of three different types of marble with their own individual and distinct characteristics. Giallo Siena Brocatello which is a yellow marble with black and white veining throughout, Rosso Francia Languedoc, quarried in France that is red with white veining, and Statuario Bianco Campanili from Italy which is White and stands out for its shine and glossy finish. Each column weighs approximately 1500 pounds and was polished by hand before being shipped.
