THE COLUMBARIUM

Sacred Heart is blessed with a beautiful and sacred space for its columbarium. It is located behind the South transept of the Cathedral and is a return to the tradition of burial on church grounds to be near our family and faith community.

The columbarium is a return to the tradition of burial on church grounds to be near our family and faith community. When cremation is chosen as an option, the dignity we show to our bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit still includes an obligation to make arrangements for the burial of the ashes. The natural beauty and tranquility of its location enhance the experience of being in the presence of the communion of saints. The garden is designed for contemplation, prayer, and reflection.

After the Sunday Masses on November 13, 2022, there will be an open house and tours of the newly renovated Sacred Heart columbarium. Several new additions have been added to the space, including more benches, concrete pavers (instead of gravel), water features, and much more. Please join Scott Barron ([email protected]), Director of Parish Ministries, for more information on the space and for information on purchasing a niche.
