Seeing the great need for mercy and healing in the world, Pope Francis called for the Year of Mercy—a special period, also known as a Jubilee Year, for the Catholic Church. It is a time for the Church across the world to focus on forgiveness, healing, receiving mercy, and being merciful towards others.

At the opening Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral on December 8, 2015, Bishop Richard F. Stika challenged the faithful to “Be not afraid to do a beautiful thing, an act of mercy every day during the Year of Mercy.”[/x_text][x_line][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section][x_section style=”margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px; “][x_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” bg_color=”” style=”margin: 0px auto 0px auto; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_column bg_color=”” type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_gap size=”50px”][x_text]
