The newest members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul gathered this morning at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP), provides assistance to people in our parish area needing food, rent assistance, utility assistance and other needs. We are establishing a new SVdP Conference at Sacred Heart of dedicated men and women who are coming together to help those in need. In doing so, you will also find yourself growing in God’s love and the desire to share that love with others.

The Society’s 160,000 trained volunteers in the United States provided 11.6 million hours of volunteer service in 2015, helping more than 14 million people through visits to homes, prisons, and hospitals at a value of nearly $1 billion dollars. During Pope Francis’ recent visit, he reached Christians and non-Christians alike with his message of helping others. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been putting these words into practice for 170 years. SVdP is truly volunteer driven with a volunteer to staff ratio of 16 to 1.
